Engaging tour. Karen is a pro. Enjoyed the experience despite the somewhat chilly morning weather. One suggestion would be to discuss more of the talking points in the comfort of a warm coffee shop! Thanks again for a great educational experience.
PS Ulysses no longer does the carvery option, but rest of the menu was very good.
We loved it! I already had some background, having majored in colonial history, but the tour filled in a lot of info I didn't know. We hope to be able to do some more of Karen's tours.
Her enthusiasm is contagious and her knowledge was outstanding. Certainly helped us enjoy the Play even more with the inside knowledge!
Revolutionary War Walking Tour
I loved the tour. I have done a little reading of Revolutionary War History and was inspired to do more. It was great to see where some of these things happened. One in particular was meaningful to me. When I read 1776 by David McCullogh I was stuck by the story of the escape from Brooklyn of the Patriots under the cover of darkness and then under the cover of a fog that had rolled in. I didn't know (or remember) about the wind that prevented the British navy from coming up the East River. I have wondered where this event took place. I was glad to be able to stand where they came ashore and to be able to picture in my mind where this took place. And afterwards I discovered the great resource your blog is. Thanks.
Revolutionary War Culper Spies Tour
Hamilton and Burr Tour
I took the Revolutionary War walking tour on a very cold November morning, and I couldn't have been more impressed by Karen. She braved the cold with the rest of our small group and dazzled us with her knowledge, humor and passion. You can tell almost immediately that she loves leading these tours around lower Manhattan, and I thank her for it. I've read many, many books about the American Revolution and that time period, and yet I still heard things I never knew from Karin's insightful tales of the times. The maps, articles, poems and pictures she showed our group really helped us imagine what it was like back in the 18th century. A must-not-miss for anyone interested in history or for someone who just loves a good story told by a delightful storyteller. If I ever return to NYC, I will absolutely be joining her again on another one of her tours. Thank you for the wonderful time, Karen!
What an awesome tour!! Im a huge history buff and i was hanging on every word Karen said. She knows the information because she has a passion for the history she is presenting and a yearning to present it so the novice student or the history buff can both enjoy it! Its too bad I couldn't make time for the "Spy" tour that she offers but she spoke a lot about that too! Karen loves what she does! It's her business. She doesnt work for a company that teaches the guides what to say. I could spend hours with Karen sharing history! Had an absolutely wonderfuk time!! Two hours just wasnt enough!!
We couldn't have found a better NYC tour than the Patriot Revolutionary War Tour. Karen is an excellent and enthusiastic tour guide who has made a thorough study of colonial New York. She skillfully explains the details of many important events leading up to and during the Revolution. My husband is a history buff and really enjoyed discussing the events with Karen. This tour is a winner and I recommend it to all. We will definitely take another tour by Karen the next time we visit New York City.
If you haven't visited Karen's Facebook page, you will be delighted with the great stories and information she provides.
