This is incredible! It’s the agreement between Richard Coote, 1st Earl of Bellomont, Governor of NY, Robert Livingston ESQ, and WILLIAM KIDD, financing Captain Kidd’s famous expedition that went horribly wrong and lead to his prosecution and execution for piracy. Dated October 10, 1695. I have seen Robert Livingston’s recollection of the expedition but just came across this today while digging through old documents. It lays out the terms of the deal: how much will be invested by each party and how much will be received at completion.
